Frequent and proper hand hygiene still the most important action!
The World Health Organisation states that frequent and proper hand hygiene is one of the most important measures that can be used to prevent infection with COVID.
Here are a number of easy actions to help you stay safe:
Sanitising stations
Allocate sanitising stations in highly visible areas with accompanying eye-catching signs. This improves uptake and usage. Check them regularly and ensure they are all in working order [2].
Implement signage
Signage next to all sinks, reminds people to wash hands and how to wash hands. Written signs have positive effects on increasing hand hygiene in an office environment [3]. You can use Summit Hygiene’s dispenser backboard. This backboard is for use with any dispenser and includes instructions on how to properly sanitise hands.
Washing Towels & linen
Store used towels and linens in clearly labelled, leak proof containers. Individuals in contact with used towels should wear PPE. machine wash towels and linen with laundry detergent exceeding 60 degrees Celsius [4]
Air dryers
Paper towels have been accepted as being superior to electric air dryers. Air dryers are associated with aerosol dispersion of microbes and surface contamination of up to a radius of 3ft; paper towel drying causes minimal air movement and microbe dispersion [5].
